"Most people just don't operate on my level"
A 39-year-old man attends an assessment after a workplace complaint. He opens by describing himself as "easily the most capable person in that office, by a wide margin," and says he has been passed over for promotion only because "management is threatened by people who are actually exceptional." He speaks at length about a business plan he is confident will make him wealthy and well known, and becomes visibly irritated when the interviewer asks a routine background question, remarking that he "shouldn't have to explain himself to someone in an entry-level role." When asked how his colleagues would describe him, he says, "Honestly, they probably envy me," and shows no apparent recognition that any of his working relationships have been strained by how he treats others.
